DRAFT — PENDING REVIEW
A working draft. It describes the state of the site honestly rather than claiming a conformance level nobody has audited, and it will be replaced once a review has been done.
The Fabrication Desk, Lawrenceville, GA 30046, intends this site and the trade platform behind it to be usable by everybody who needs to work with us — with a keyboard, with a screen reader, at a large text size, on a phone in daylight. We are working toward WCAG 2.2 level AA. We have not been independently audited, so we do not claim to have met it.
What is in place
- A “skip to content” link is the first thing on every page, so a keyboard user is never made to walk through the navigation.
- Every form control has a label tied to it, and a field that is refused says so in text next to the field rather than by colour alone.
- Screens announce when something has happened — a submitted form, an error — to a screen reader rather than only changing on screen.
- Pinch-zoom is not disabled. The page scales to five times without the layout locking, because this is used one-handed on a jobsite.
- Motion is decoration, never information: with reduced motion switched on, or with JavaScript off, everything that would animate is simply visible.
- Focus is always visible: form controls take a distinct focus ring rather than relying on the browser default being noticeable.
- No third-party widget, chat bubble or advertising script is loaded anywhere on this site, so nothing arrives that we have not built and cannot fix.
What we know falls short
Listed because knowing about a barrier and not saying so is the worse failure:
- On a narrow screen the main navigation is hidden and there is no menu to open in its place — the footer links are the way around the site until this is fixed.
- The instant-estimate wizard is cramped on a small phone, and part of it can sit off-screen.
- Some controls in the signed-in area are smaller than the target size a touch interface should offer.
- No independent accessibility audit has been carried out, and no assistive technology testing beyond the developers’ own.
These are on the work list rather than in a drawer. This page is updated as they close.
If something does not work
Tell us and we will fix it, and in the meantime we will do the thing you were trying to do for you. Call 470-584-8882 or write through the contact page. Say what you were trying to do, what page you were on and what you were using — that is usually enough to reproduce it the same day.
Anything that can be done on this site can be done on the phone instead. Nobody has to fight the website to get a price, book a measurement or apply for an account.
