THE FABRICATION DESKGEORGIA · TRADE & CONTRACTOR SUPPLY

FAQ · straight answers

Asked, answered.

The questions contractors actually ask — answered the same way on this page as on the phone.

We already have a fabricator.

Good — you should. Nobody is asking you to replace anybody. Send one job and see the number and the turnaround. If it’s not better, you’ve lost nothing and you’ve got a second source for the week your guy’s saw goes down.

Your price seems high. / Your price seems low — what's the catch?

Same answer to both: look at what’s in the number. We quote fabrication only, itemized — every sink, cooktop, hole and outlet on its own line. Most square-foot quotes bury or exclude the cutouts, and a sink plus a cooktop plus three holes plus two outlets is real money that lands on the invoice later. Compare like for like, or the comparison is meaningless. Measurement and installation are separate and quoted against the project, so you’re seeing the cutting cost by itself instead of a blended number.

What's your best price? Can you do better on volume?

There’s a published tier sheet — we’d rather show you how to earn the better number than haggle over it. Every trade account is on the same ladder: delivered square footage moves you up at the 90-day review, and our tiers break earlier than the market’s usual 500 and 1,000 SF marks. No phone negotiations, no special deals for whoever pushes hardest. The ladder is here; rates render inside your approved account.

Can you supply the slab, or do I bring my own?

Either. Customer-supplied slabs are welcome — that’s most of the trade work. If you want the stone too, we buy through direct accounts with the region’s main stone suppliers and quote the slab per order, with the fabrication, on the same quote. There is no slab price list, on purpose: stone moves with the market and the individual slab, so the number you get is real, per order, in writing.

Just give me the volume rate now and I'll bring you the work.

Every account starts at Standard, including the ones that end up at Builder pricing. The first job is where we both find out whether the date holds. Bring the square footage and the tier follows automatically at the ninety-day review — you won’t have to ask for it twice.

Your competitor knocked a few dollars off for me.

Ask what’s in their number. Most square-foot quotes exclude cutouts, and the cutouts are where the real money is. We don’t match numbers on the phone — the sheet is published, the same for every account, and it stays honest precisely because it doesn’t move for whoever calls last.

Can you discount the cutouts instead?

No, and it’s worth saying why: the cutouts are priced the same for every account at every tier. That is what keeps the sheet honest — the headline rate is not being propped up by inflated cutout charges, so nobody is quietly paying more than the account next to them.

Can you install?

Yes, and it’s quoted separately against the actual job — new construction or existing, whether there’s demolition, size, access, distance, crew and material risk. Send the project and both lines come back priced apart, so you can see them separately. Installation review starts here.

Do you do the template too?

Professional measurement is available and priced per kitchen, bathroom, island or project — prices are published. Some contractors template themselves and just buy the cutting. Either works.

How fast?

Itemized quotes in 24 hours. Fabrication gets a real date, and the date holds — we never quote a turnaround we can’t keep, because on a price-competitive job the schedule is the entire differentiator.

Send me your price list.

The direct rates are published right here — but a list won’t tell you much, because the cutouts are where the real money is. Send one active project and you’ll see the number on your own job, itemized, in 24 hours.

Why is the direct price higher than what my contractor pays?

By design, and it’s published. Contractors carry the relationship, the site and the risk, and their trade pricing reflects the volume they bring. A direct client pays at least 50% more than a trade account — that spread is what makes it safe for your contractor to work with us without losing you as their customer.

Is measurement included? Is installation?

Fabrication is the price we quote. Measurement and installation are available separately and quoted against the actual project — never folded into a square-foot number, because that’s how people end up surprised. Slabs and material, delivery, demo, disposal, plumbing and electrical are the same: separate lines on an approved quote, or not our scope.

How far out do you take work?

We fabricate for anywhere in Georgia. Where a job lands has never been a reason we turn it down — most of our material is shipped in by the suppliers, so distance changes nothing about cutting it. What it changes is how the finished work reaches you: pick it up at the shop, or we quote the run as its own line. That is the reason delivery sits outside the square-foot price instead of averaged into it. Measurement and installation are the parts that go out on our own crews, and there are only so many of them, so those we schedule by distance and crew availability and quote job by job rather than promise broadly.
